Start today by asking God to guide you in this time. Allow Him to guide and move you through His Word and bless you!
Read 1 Samuel 1:3-5.
Journal some thoughts that you have on these verses.
What really speaks to you about this story so far?
How do you relate to Hannah?
What are your thoughts about God closing Hannah's womb?
God does allow "deserts" into our lives. He isn't shocked by them. He isn't holding his breath wondering what's going to happen to you next. He is in control of all things!
God had an amazing plan for Hannah's life through this desert. She may have had a closed womb at this time, but God provided for her in such tender ways. Her husband gave her a double portion at the time of sacrifice.
Look at Isaiah 61:7:
"Instead of their shame
my people will receive a double portion,
and instead of disgrace
they will rejoice in their inheritance;
and so they will inherit a double portion in their land,
and everlasting joy will be theirs."
God gave this promise to His people through the prophet Isaiah years ago, and we know that it is ours in Christ! Instead of the shame and wages of sin, we have been given a double portion...the very best part of the sacrifice! Everlasting JOY is our in Christ every day!!!
Though you are going through an earthly desert at this time, know that God gives us everlasting JOY through Christ during them. Hannah is about to experience the power of answered prayer and an amazing miracle in her life. But, even in the midst of this trial...when she didn't know the ending of her story...she continued to travel with her family to worship the Lord. She knew who could fill her cup!
No matter what we face in this life, God will use it for good. It may not be our definition of good, but He provides peace, joy, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, love, goodness, and self-control in the midst of our daily lives and that allows us to THRIVE! The world looks closely at those women who endure great pain, yet have great JOY. We can have this everlasting JOY because of the gift of Jesus Christ! He is our double portion! He is our everlasting JOY!
THRIVE!

I just have to say I feel like I am in a desert and that I've been there too long! But I don't know what to do! How do you keep having faith when it appears nothing is changing and then you get confirmation that nothing is changing! I know God has a plan and a purpose for it all. But that's a hard pill to swallow. So, I just have to say thank you Frances for teaching the lesson on God being the only person who should be filling my cup. Because now I have no excuse to not be joyous despite my desert even when I can't see the other side.
And if you would please pray from my marriage and my family. That would truly be a miracle.
Thanks,
Lisa Rainey
